These tutorials are specifically designed to help you interact with your repository from your personal computer or Computer Science Lab workstation.

Your Git Repository

We use the Git version control system. In addition, we now append .git to the end of the repository name to align with Gitolite's naming convention.

Using Git

Git is a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency. Git is easy to learn and has a tiny footprint with lightning fast performance. It outclasses SCM tools like Subversion, CVS, Perforce, and ClearCase with features like cheap local branching, convenient staging areas, and multiple workflows. [1]

Using Secure Shell (SSH)

Secure Shell (SSH) is a cryptographic network protocol for secure data communication, remote command-line login, remote command execution, and other secure network services between two networked computers. [2]
